The amount of great music that’s been released this week is ridiculous. I’d need a whole day off to really listen to everything in peace. But as always I make it easier for you by giving you a curated selection of those tracks that are actually worth listening to.
So let me start with the ones closest to my heart. First off, that’s the homie Nadus who just released three new tracks. I will put the link to his audiomack profile right here so you can listen to all of them. But my personal favourite is definitely the Q-Tip – Breathe and Stop (Elete and Nadus Remix) that came out last Friday. You know when you hear a song for the first time and your body just wants to dance? Yeah…and for the rest of the day my brain was like “big ass thighs, big ass thighs, big ass thighs”. LOVE IT.
The next one is a track by my girl Raissa. Not only is she the sweetest person ever, she also literally has the voice of an angel. And when I heard her new single “BULLYING BOYS” this morning I had tears in my eyes. When I told her that the song gives me angel floating through space vibes she said that that was the idea and I am so here for it. It’s just a matter of time until Raissa will blow up. I’ll tell you why – She is a goddamn poet with an old soul, she doesn’t only sing a song, she makes you feel it, and she’s a freaking beautiful artist. But don’t take my word for it watch her music video below. Oh and she made it on to the official New Music Friday Spotify playlist today! So very well deserved!
Alright and now let me tell you about the song that made me the happiest today. Okay so do you remember Sunshine Anderson? No? Well, on her album “Your Woman” in 2001 there was one song which was to become her most successful song ever. This song is called “Heard It All Before” and it is still one of my all time favourites. So long story short. Someone remixed it. Omg! Yes I know what you’re probably thinking? That’s risky bizness. I’ve heard too many horrible remixes of great originals. But this one…THIS ONE! It’s called “Shut You Down” by Shaun Dean and Majestic. Listen to it and be prepared to lose your mind at 0:43. You’re welcome.
And now the breaking news of the day! Lil Wayne dropped a whole 24-track album on us today called “Funeral“. No one saw that coming. Gaddammn! And I am happy to announce that it’s old Lil Wayne! Which makes me think…I wish old Nicki would return as well. Anyways, in my opinion the two best songs on the album are the first two “Funeral” and “Mahogany”, and the award for Best Beat definitely goes to track 20 “Line Em Up”. That’s all I’m gonna say.
Also you probably all heard the super weird collaboration between Ed Sheeran, Stormzy and Burna Boy on Stormzy’s last project “Heavy is the Head”. I felt about this song the same way I felt about Ed Sheeran’s whole album: It would be better if Ed Sheeran wasn’t on it. I know it sounds mean but somehow I just associate Ed Sheeran’s voice with mainstream and trashy clubs and drunk people who can’t dance. Sorry Ed, you’re a great singer and I’m sure you’re really sweet in person. But still today a remix of “Own It” was released with Stylo G and Toddla T and NO ED. Hahahahah what can I say…Listen to it, it just proves my point.
Other songs I recommend you listen to are divided into three categories today.
First category is Relevant Rhymes:
“Letter to Nipsey” – Meek Mill and Roddy Ricch
“Top of the Morning” – D Smoke
“Kisses To The Sky” – Jadakiss, Rick Ross, Emanny
Second category is Valuable Vibes:
“Kpalanga” – Mr Eazi
“Arizona” – Blaq Jerzee and WizKid
“Anywhere” – Naira Marley and Ms Banks
Third category is Mellow Melodies:

“Fade Away” – Lucky Daye (from The Photograph movie which comes out Valentines Day)
“Generous” – Amber Mark
Oh and Drake leaked (question mark) a song called “Desires” with Future (rolls eyes) on Soundcloud but honestly who cares? I love Drake but I feel like he’s not even trying lately. Anyways listen to all the new music on my FRESHNESSS Playlist. And now stream “BULLYING BOYS” by Raissa HERE.
