Bringing Dee Smoke

The highlight of today is definitely D Smoke’s new album “Black Habits”. No, actually let me correct myself, it is the highlight of the month. I can’t imagine that any other album this month will be able to top this. Not only is D Smoke a lyrical genius, in both English AND Espanol, but he’s also hitting us with some brilliant features on this project like Snoop Dogg, the legendary Jill Scott, Ari Lennox and SiR. Still waiting for the Kendrick collaboration but I have a feeling it will be on Kendrick’s next album. Feel free to quote me on this one. So I suggest you take some time to sit down and really listen to this album this weekend, it’s one of those that gets better with every listen.

Another album that I would like you to listen to is “Fuck the World” by Brent Faiyaz and of course the Moonstone EP by Raveena. Besides that my guy McClenney just released a single called “TRIP” which is a real vibe. “Moment” by Victoria Monét and “Midnight” from Leon Bridges’ project with Khruangbin called “Texas Sun” will have you slightly in your feels and for a real bop listen to “Elementary” by LZee (this is the first track I’ve heard from him and I definitely hear his potential, his flow is natural and he’s got personality).

And then the allegedly retired Nicki Minaj released a new single called “Yikes” and I have to say I was really intrigued until she said “All you bitches Rosa Parks, uh oh, get your ass up”….yeah…yikes, literally. I suggest you pause that one and switch to “Comfortable” by H.E.R. which came out 2 days ago and I can’t stop listening to it.

Alright that’s it for a quick update today. If you feel like starting your weekend with some nice UK sound here’s my latest mix that’s guaranteed to get your back up off the wall, or the bed or chair or whatever.

Happy Friday and a fire weekend to all of you!
